چکیده

Abstract The main purpose of the present work is to demonstrate mechanical performance a wet-compression-molding (WCM) composite product through conventional compressive-strength-after-impact (CSAI) analysis. Biaxial non-crimp fabric (NCF) utilized manufacture laminated panels. Specimens are cut from panels and tested characterize fundamental properties NCF composite. volume fractions fibers voids also measured evaluate quality WCM product. Impact tests carried out examine impact resistance structure. Numerous characteristics at various energy levels quantitatively measured. Internal failure patterns damage extent revealed via X-ray CT. Compression on impacted plates followed structural integrity tolerance (SIDT). 3D DIC technique employed distinct buckling responses dependent successfully visualized. Experimental results showing promising potential process as one alternatives autoclave-based fabrication method.

The Numerical Analysis and Validation of Compression Molding Process

In this work, the simulation results from a program developed for the three-dimensional analysis of compression molding of thermoset composites were compared to the experimental results of an actual molded thermoset sample. The program predicts the flow pattern, fiber orientation, fiber length distribution, curing of the resin and mechanical properties. The comparison between simulation and exp...

Influence of Ambient Condition on Performance of Wet Compression Process

Gas turbine systems with wet compression have a potential for future power generation, since they can offer a high efficiency and a high specific power with a relatively low cost. In this study influence of ambient condition on the performance of the wet compression process is investigated with a non-equilibrium analytical modeling based on droplet evaporation. Transient behaviors of droplet di...

Multiscale Analysis of Transverse Cracking in Cross-Ply Laminated Beams Using the Layerwise Theory

A finite element model based on the layerwise theory is developed for the analysis of transverse cracking in cross-ply laminated beams. The numerical model is developed using the layerwise theory of Reddy, and the von Kármán type nonlinear strain field is adopted to accommodate the moderately large rotations of the beam. The finite element beam model is verified by comparing the present numeric...

Estimation of Lamina Stiffness and Strength of Quadriaxial Non-Crimp Fabric Composites Based on Semi-Laminar Considerations

Quadriaxial non-crimp fabric (QNCF) composites are increasingly being used as primary structural materials in aircraft and automotive applications. Predicting the mechanical properties of QNCF lamina is more complicated compared with that of unidirectional (UD) composites, because of the knitting connection of different plies. In this study, to analyze the stiffness and strength of the QNCF com...

Characterisation of the mechanical and fracture properties of a uni-weave carbon fibre/epoxy non-crimp fabric composite

A complete database of the mechanical properties of an epoxy polymer reinforced with uni-weave carbon fibre non-crimp fabric (NCF) is established. In-plane and through-the-thickness tests were performed on unidirectional laminates under normal loading and shear loading. The response under cyclic shear loading was also measured. The material has been characterised in terms of stiffness, strength...
